چکیده

Background PAR-2, a G-coupled receptor activated by serine proteinases, is widely expressed in the human body and is involved in inflammation. We have shown that PAR-2 activation in the airways plays a pathogenetic role in mouse models of asthma. PAR-2 expression is increased in the epithelium of asthmatic subjects, but its expression on immune and inflammatory cells of asthmatic individuals has not been. Severe asthma has different phenotypic characteristics from mild-moderate disease. In this study we compared PAR-2 expression on immune cells between subjects with mild/moderate and severe asthma.

Increased Protease-Activated Receptor-2 (PAR-2) Expression on CD14++CD16+ Peripheral Blood Monocytes of Patients with Severe Asthma

BACKGROUND Protease-Activated Receptor-2 (PAR-2), a G protein coupled receptor activated by serine proteases, is widely expressed in humans and is involved in inflammation. PAR-2 activation in the airways plays an important role in the development of allergic airway inflammation. PAR-2 expression is known to be upregulated in the epithelium of asthmatic subjects, but its expression on immune an...

Regulation of Proteinase Activated Receptor-2 on airway epithelium

Background The prevalence of allergic asthma has increased dramatically over the last 20 years. Environmental allergens such as house dust mites (HDM), cockroach, fungi and pollens are major asthma triggers. Recent studies indicate that the serine proteinase activity of these allergens is an important factor contributing to their ability to induce airway inflammation. Allergen serine proteinase...

Basic and translational research on proteinase-activated receptors: implication of proteinase/proteinase-activated receptor in gastrointestinal inflammation.

Recently, the role of serine proteinases in the pathogenesis of inflammation and autoimmune diseases via interaction with the proteinase-activated receptor (PAR) has attracted attention. Activation of PAR has a pro-inflammatory effect through the overproduction of inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-8. PAR(2) activation in human esophageal epithelial cells by trypsin induce...

The proteinase-activated receptor 2 is induced by inflammatory mediators in human endothelial cells. Comparison with the thrombin receptor.

The proteinase-activated receptor 2 (PAR-2) belongs to the family of seven transmembrane region receptors, and, like the related thrombin receptor, it is activated by specific proteolytic cleavage of its extracellular amino terminus. It is not known which proteinase is the physiological activator of the PAR-2, but candidates can be found among the enzymes involved in the inflammatory cascade sy...

Activation of human oral epithelial cells by neutrophil proteinase 3 through protease-activated receptor-2.

Proteinase 3 (PR3), a 29-kDa serine proteinase secreted from activated neutrophils, also exists in a membrane-bound form, and is suggested to actively contribute to inflammatory processes. The present study focused on the mechanism by which PR3 activates human oral epithelial cells. PR3 activated the epithelial cells in culture to produce IL-8 and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 and to expre...
